Himalayan Crystal Salt & Sea Salt Information

New and Updated Salt Information for the Fall Season

It's that time of year again where we need to strengthen our immune systems to fight off colds and flu. Today I'm going to tell you how you can use the healing properties of "The Original" Himalayan Living Salt to both relieve symptoms, and prevent colds and flu from developing. The Original Himalayan Crystal Salt helps to detoxify and has anti-inflammatory as well as expectorant effects and assists the immune system.

To prevent and treat colds and flu, drink one teaspoon of sole in a glass of living spring water every morning on an empty stomach. Then drink two to three quarts of low-mineral, non-carbonated water per day. Among other benefits, the sole will supply your body with natural energy, eliminate impurities and stimulate your body's circulation and nervous system--all of which help fight illness. Do this as the foundation of any other treatment for specific symptoms. Additionally take 3 gram of Vitamin C and 100 mg of Zink for 5 days in a small dose throughout the day and avoid animal protein – instead increase your intake of fresh vegetables and fruits.

If you are already having symptoms, but do not have a fever, take a 1% sole bath in body temperature water for 20 minutes. This will help the body release toxins and absorb energy and minerals from the sole.

If you have a fever, do not bathe. Instead, soak your feet in a 1% sole solutions and use a "salt shirt." To make a salt shirt, dip a clean cotton shirt in a 3% sole solution (2 tablespoons of "The Original" Himalayan Living Salt dissolved in 1 quart of water). Wring excess liquid from the shirt and put it on. Wrap your body in a dry towel and lay in bed, covered with a blanket. After about half an hour you will start sweating. Stay in bed for 60 to 90 minutes. Take off your shirt and shower, then rest for one hour. This is excellent for reducing high fevers.

To relieve a sore throat, gargle with a 1% sole solution. This brings comfort by moistening the infected mucous membrane, loosens bacteria and viruses, and disinfects and regenerates the mucous membrane. Repeat this process several times each day.

To relieve a runny nose or soothe a sinus infection, flush your nose twice a day using a 1% sole solution in a Neti Pot. You also can spread Peloid onto the sinuses and cover it with a hot, moist cotton cloth – remove after 15 minutes.

To relieve an ear infection, flush your nose twice a day with a 1% sole solution (as described above), and place a heated Salt Sachet on your ear for 20 minutes several times a day to alleviate pain.

To relieve bronchitis, perform inhalation therapy once or twice a day with a Personal Salt-Air Inhaler. The placement of an crystal salt ionizer in the bedroom also relieves breathing during the night.

These treatment can work wonders to help your body heal in record time.

What is Himalayan Crystal Salt?

When we speak of Himalayan Crystal Salt, we are referring to only one specific crystal salt, the “Original”, coming from one specific location in the East Karakoram range of the Himalayan Mountain in Pakistan and has been the subject of comprehensive medical research as written about in the book Water&Salt - The Essence of Life, by Dr. Barbara Hendel, MD and Peter Ferreira. Original Himalayan Crystal Salt is more than sodium and chloride. Original Himalayan Crystal Salt can actually be viewed as food. When we speak of salt, and as we scrutinize its properties, we mean salt in its original form: holistic, wholesome, unaltered, natural salt, as it has crystallized in the Earth over millions of years.

Original Himalayan crystal salt contains all the elements of which the human body is comprised. From the periodic table of elements we are familiar with 94 natural elements (stable as well as unstable). Apart from inert gases, all of these elements (84) can be found in crystal salt. Hence, crystal salt contains all natural minerals and trace elements that are found in the human body. We perceive crystal salt as being the totality of all natural elements. This may not be entirely correct according to chemistry, however we will continue to use the term crystal salt in this context. The number of the respective elements contained in the crystal salt is biophysically irrelevant to this study.

The Meaning of the Word Salt

The word salt comes from the Latin term sal, which again comes from the word sol. Sol is synonymous with the “sole,” the water and salt solution and is the Latin word for sun. Mythologically, and from its definition, sole means “liquid sunlight,” the liquid materialization of the sun’s energy, liquid light energy, bound into a geometrical structure, capable of creating and sustaining life. This literally explains where life on Earth came from: from the sole of the primal oceans.

The Celtic word for salt, “hall” has the same roots as the German word heilig meaning “holy” which also comes from the word heil meaning “whole,” Further, hall also signifies sound (German schall). The schall is a sound with a long hall, which means echo or reverberation in German, involving vibration. If we knew of these correlations today, we would be asking our neighbor at the table to “Please pass me some vibration,” rather than “Please pass me some salt.” We have to ask, “Were the Celts conscious of the fact that salt contained all the frequency patterns of the elements?” And, that “hall” was the basic vibration for “heil” (German “health”)/ “wholesomeness”? They definitely knew how to cure illnesses and rebalance the energy deficit in the body through “hall,” their salt. From an energetic, as well as from the biophysical point of view, an energy deficit can be balanced with salt, regardless of the missing frequency pattern, or the missing information/energy/life-force. Pure crystal salt is still geologically defined as “halite,” in which we can recognize the Celtic words “hall” for salt and “lit” for light. Loosely translated, crystal salt or halite means, light vibration.

Natural Himalayan crystal salt consists not only of two, but also of all natural elements. These are identical to the elements of which our bodies have been built and originally found existing in the “primal ocean” from where all life originated. Interesting enough, our blood is a sole, containing the same salty solution as that of the primal sea; that is, a fluid consisting of water and salt.

Salt — Mediator between Energy and Matter

Salt is that which remains after matter has dissolved and transformed into subtle matter. The founder of the Schüssler Salt Therapy, Dr. Wilhelm Schüssler, already proved, over 100 years ago, that the ashes remaining after a corpse is cremated are nothing but the salts of which the human body is made. The byproduct of the modern waste burning plants is salt. Needless to say, no one would want to eat this salt, but the fact remains, it is salt. Our prehistoric ancestors were already aware of the crucial necessity of salt. Wherever they found salt they guarded it like a treasure. Later in history, salt was called “white gold” and was the subject of political power plays, which oftentimes resulted in war. Roman soldiers were actually paid with salt, which is reflected in the word “salary.” Salt was more important for survival than gold. Throughout Europe, the salt routes over which the white gold was transported emerged. The names of many German cities bear testimony to this time, with such names as: Salzgitter, Salzburg or Bad Salzuflen for instance. Also, names including the word “hall,” the Celtic word for salt, emerged, with city names like Bad Reichenhall, Friedrichshall and Hallein, indicating salt deposits at these locations.

The Structure of Salt

Similar to water, salt has its individual crystalline structure. In contrast to the structure of water, which is tetrahedral in shape, the grid structure of salt is cubic in form. This cube is constructed from light quanta, also called photons, which are pure light energy. The light/heat energy of the sun evaporated the primal oceans more than 250 million years ago and the energy expended for this dehydration is stored in the platonic body of the salt’s crystalline grid as potential energy. By adding water, the force of the grid can be overcome, so that the energy it holds is liberated. In this process, the elements within the crystal salt are ionized, allowing them to penetrate the body’s cells. This creates an ocean of energy, a powerful potential, waiting only to create and sustain life.

The Power of Salt to Transform

From a scientific point of view, salt has a very unique property. In contrast to all other crystalline structures, the atomic structure of salt is not molecular, but electrical. This fact is what makes salt so transformable. When we submerge a quartz crystal into water and remove it after 10 minutes, it is still the same quartz crystal. It did not change molecularly, though it has a crystalline structure. Although the crystal can give its energy, its frequency pattern into the surrounding water, which is effortlessly absorbed, the quartz crystal remains the same. The crystal is too rooted in matter to be dissolved or disassociated from its polarity.

When we submerge a crystal of salt into water, it dissolves, and the sole is created. Sole is neither water nor salt. It is a higher energetic dimension than either the water or the salt alone. When the sole evaporates, the salt is left behind. This transformability of salt ensures that it does not have to be metabolized in our body. Starch is transformed into sugar, protein into amino acids and fat into glycerin and acid. But salt remains salt. It is directly available to the cells in its ionized form as sole (so-lay). All other foods must be separated into their components in order for the body to make use of them. But salt always remains in its original form. It even accesses our brain directly.

No Thoughts and No Actions Without Salt

Even the simplest processes in our body need salt or its inherent elements in ionized form. For example, it is the task of our nervous system to transmit the stimulation that has been recorded via sensory input to our brain, which in return passes this information back to our muscles in order for us to react to the respective stimuli. An electric potential occurs on the membrane wall of the cells when the positively charged potassium ions leave the cells and the positively charged sodium ions cannot enter due to their size. The outside becomes positively charged and the inside negatively charged. When a nerve cell is stimulated, its membrane suddenly becomes polar opposite and consequently is permeable for the sodium ions. In one-thousandth of a second (1/1000th), the electrical potential is transformed and releases, with every nerve impulse, 90 mill volts of energy. The received stimuli are now being converted into thoughts and actions. Without the elements potassium and sodium in the salt, this process is not possible. Not even a single thought is possible, let alone an action, without their presence. Just the simple act of drinking a glass of water requires millions of instructions that come as impulses. In the beginning there is the thought. This thought is nothing but an electromagnetic frequency. The salt is responsible for enabling this frequency to transmit commands to the muscles and organs.

The Conductivity of Salt

Most of us are familiar with experimenting with the conductivity of salt from science class. We attach two ends of an electric current to a light bulb and submerge it into a glass with distilled water. Because this water is not conductive, the bulb does not light up. But when we add a little bit of salt into the water, the bulb slowly starts to glow. It is the same with our body. When we lack the natural elements of the salt, we are suffering from a chronic loss, a chronic energy deficit, or deficit of information. Salt cannot be labeled as a medication, because that would imply that apples too were a medication. Salt is a core essential nutrient with exceptional abilities and qualities fundamental for keeping us alive. And we can find that which we are lacking, the respective frequency pattern, as well as the necessary bio-chemicals, in natural crystal salt.

White Gold to White Poison

As common as salt shakers are to our kitchens, so are the numbers of diseases associated with salt’s daily use. Life is not possible without salt. But our consumption of salt is killing us. Why is that? Because our regular table salt no longer has anything in common with the original crystal salt of which we’re talking about here. Salt nowadays is mainly sodium chloride and not salt. Natural crystal salt consists not only of two, but also of all natural elements. These are identical to the elements of which our bodies have been built and originally found existing in the “primal ocean” from where all life originated.Interesting enough, our blood is a sole, containing the same salty solution as that of the primal sea; that is, a fluid consisting of water and salt. It also has the same ratio of concentration as existed in the days when life left the primal sea. This sole flows through more than 56,000 miles of waterways and blood vessels throughout our organism with the forces of gravity and levity and regulates and balances the functions of our body.

How Salt Became Sodium Chloride

With the advent of industrial development, natural salt was “chemically cleaned” and reduced to the combination of sodium and chloride. Essential minerals and trace elements were removed as impurities. However, sodium chloride is an unnatural, isolated, unwholesome substance having nothing in common with salt. Similar to white, refined sugar, salt, once regarded as white gold, was converted into white poison. However, there is a higher reason for salt having been endowed with all the natural elements found in our bodies. Sodium chloride is an aggressive substance, which biochemically, is perpetually seeking an equalizing counterpart so that the body’s pH can always remain neutral. Sodium chloride needs its natural counterpart in order for it to produce its effect. The natural counterparts, such as potassium, calcium, magnesium and other minerals and trace elements, demonstrate, from a biophysical standpoint, specific frequency patterns. These patterns ensure the geometric structures in our body. When these structures are missing, we are without energy and are lifeless. Salt should not be used just to add flavor to our food, but for its vibration pattern, which is similar to our body!

How Table Salt Burdens the Body

While our body only requires the minute amount of 0.007 ounces of salt per day, most of us suffer from a lack of salt, even though we’re over-saturated with sodium chloride. When our consumption of salt is less than 0.007 ounces per day, salt craving kicks in. The average, per capita, daily consumption of table salt in the U.S. is between 0.4 ounces and 0.7 ounces. However, our body is only able to excrete 0.17 ounces to 0.25 ounces a day through our kidneys, depending on our age, constitution and sex. The body recognizes table salt as an aggressive cellular poison, an unnatural substance, and wants to eliminate it as quickly as possible in order to protect itself. This causes a constant overburden on our organs of excretion. In almost every preserved product, salt is used as part of the preservation process. So, by adding salt to the already-salted food, the body receives more salt than it can get rid of.

The body now tries to isolate the over-dose of salt. In this process, water molecules surround the sodium chloride in order to ionize it into sodium and chloride to neutralize it. For this process, the water is taken from our cells as the body sacrifices its most perfectly structured cell water in order to neutralize sodium chloride. With this, the dehydrated body cells die.

The Consequences of Consuming Table Salt

The result of consuming common table salt is the formation of overly acidic edema, or excess fluid in the body tissue, which is also the cause of cellulite. That’s why doctors tell us to avoid salt. For every .035 ounces of sodium chloride that cannot be eliminated, the body uses 23 times (23x) the amount of its own cell water to neutralize the salt. If the sodium chloride is still too high, re-crystallization of the table salt occurs as the body uses available non-degradable animal proteins (as those found in milk), which also have no value and cannot be broken down and eliminated. The body uses these proteins to produce uric acid in order to get rid of the excess salt. As the body cannot dispose of uric acid, it binds itself with the sodium chloride to form new crystals that are deposited directly in the bones and joints. This is the cause of different kinds of rheumatism such as arthritis, gout, and kidney and gall bladder stones. This re-crystallization is the body’s band-aid solution for the cells and organs in order to protect the body from irreparable damage of irresponsible food intake. But in the long run, it poisons the system because those substances cannot be disposed of.

The Difference Between Rock Salt and Crystal Salt

The elements in rock salt are not integrated into the salt’s crystal grid, but cling to the outside surface and crevices of the crystalline structure. This is the fundamental difference between rock salt and crystal salt. A salt crystal manifests a superior structure. Due to this sublime form, the elements are biochemically available for our cells as are the individual frequencies or vibration patterns. Rock salt is a cheap alternative to table salt, and is at least a natural and wholesome product. Biochemically and biophysically however, it is of little importance to our organism. We can only receive the resonant effects of the geometrical structure through the superior order or structure of a crystal and our cells can only absorb those elements that occur in an ional form. Only under considerable pressure considerable pressure can the elements be transformed into a specific size, making them ional, which enables them to pass through our cell wall. This is important because our cells can only absorb what is available organically or ionally. Therefore, we cannot absorb the minerals from mineral water as they’re not refined enough to penetrate our cell walls. And what doesn’t get into our cells cannot be metabolized. Therefore, the best calcium is useless if it cannot be available to the body’s cells. What we need is the organic, or ional state of an element, in perfect natural symbiosis with all its associated elements, in order for our organism to make any use of it.

Crystal Salt

Pure, natural crystal salt has been subjected to enormous pressure over millions of years. The pressure is responsible for creating the salt crystals. The higher the amount of pressure the more superior or excellent the state of order within the crystalline structure. Salt, for us, is foremost an information carrier and not a spice. For information to be absorbed into our cells, a crystalline structure is necessary. Chemically, a stone and a quartz crystal are both silicates. However, the vast difference in the amounts of pressure they were subjected to, distinguishes them. The quartz crystal embodies a perfect geometric form, a perfect state of order within its structure. The stone does not. Its elements are coarse, because it was not subjected to enough pressure to create a crystalline structure. Crystal salt layers wind through the mountain of salt, shimmering in transparent white, pinkish or reddish veins. Only with sufficient pressure was the salt of the salt mountain transformed into crystal salt.

The elements trapped within the crystal salt are in particles small enough to be able to penetrate the human cells and be metabolized.

The Healing Effect of Salt

For thousands of years salt has been known as a panacea. Alchemists called it “the fifth element”—besides water, earth, air and fire—because its qualities were comparable only to ether, the actual fifth element. Why are we so drawn to the ocean? Because our subconscious mind instinctively wants to return to the specific vibrational state of the ocean from which we once emerged. This is where we can return to recharge our batteries and regenerate. It was only two-hundred-fifty years ago, with the advent of industrialization, that we initiated our disconnection from nature and her ways. Fortunately, we are witnessing a trend to return back to natural, holistic methods for living and caring for our body, including a shift back to utilizing natural salts in this process. People everywhere are reconsidering the healing effects of natural crystal salt. We can find it in skin care lotions and for use as bath salts, and it is even used in inhalation or cleansing treatments for illnesses of the respiratory system and for a variety of other indications.

The Neutralizing Effect of Salt

The healing properties of salt are also known in allopathic medicine. The largest and oldest salt works in Europe occupies the royal salt mine of Wieliczka, Poland, just 7.5 miles outside of Krakow. Here, a hospital was carved out of the expansive salt mountain, seven hundred forty feet below the surface, specifically for asthmatics and patients with lung disease and allergies. Several thousand patients have been successfully treated in this hospital. The healing rate is astonishingly over 90%. Recognition of the healing effects of salt chambers has influenced the construction of a similar underground spa located in the salt mine of Berchtesgaden in Germany. The therapeutic benefits of long-term residency inside the healing salt chambers are allopathically acknowledged. The healing effects were originally thought to be related to the purity of the air within the mine’s chambers. But if it was only a question of the purity of the air, why was the air in the cave so healthy, and the air above-surface so unhealthy? One cause has been determined. Our houses are charged with electromagnetic devices, such as TVs, stereos, computers, microwave ovens and the basic electric currents running through our walls. And, when not at home, we hold cell phones to our ears while driving in our cars and walking through our daily lives. This electro-smog causes an excess of positively charged ions that disturb the balance between the positively and negatively charged particles. Further, it creates an excess positively charged, chemically unbound particles in the air. Only thirty seconds on a cell phone are enough to open up our blood-brain-barrier, a natural barrier that protects our brain from toxins, for eight hours. A Swedish study showed that ninety percent of the women who used a copper-T I.U.D. as their birth control method, while simultaneously using cell phones, developed uterine cancer; the cause being that the I.U.D. functioned as a transmitter and receiver of unnatural, dissonant vibrations.

Organic Sea Salt

In days of old, soldiers were paid with a rare and expensive essential known as salt. Modern "salt" has little relationship with what was anciently called by that name.

Wheat is known as "the staff of life," but without salt (in the ancient usage of that word), wheat alone will not sustain life indefinitely. Salt is in its own right as necessary to the functions of the human body, as are other essential nutrients.

Why then is there such an outcry against "salt" today? Why are people persuaded to go on "low salt" or even "no salt" diets? Why is the "sodium" found in salt such a nemesis to our health today? To answer these simple questions, and other questions about salt, we must first understand what salt is and what salt is not.

"Salt" in an every day sense of the word is that little, white, granular stuff found in shakers on our dining tables, in our kitchens, and sprinkled generously on the french fries we buy at fast food stores. That little white granular stuff, commonly called "salt," will in no sense measure up, when we take a look at the historic definition of salt. But, "Salt is salt, you say." Not so. "Salt" is not salt, if you really want to know the truth.

"Salt" in the common usage of that word today is granular "sodium chloride." Pure and simple. It is a dry, white crystalline substance that tastes "salty," alright, which is possibly the only benefit!

Even "sea salt" brands that pour easily also have much of their vitality refined away. Salt water fish cannot live in a brine of sodium chloride alone, as every marine aquarium owner knows. The health consequences of consuming sodium chloride over a lifetime are coming to light. The fact is that granulated sodium chloride commonly found in salt shakers everywhere can no more be called genuine salt in the historic use of that word, than a pile of boards can rightly be called a house, or a pile of sand can rightly be called garden soil. You see the point.

Table "salt"--sodium chloride--is only one of some 80-84 individual constituents of salt in the real, historic sense of that word. And to use the word "salt" in reference to sodium chloride alone is to do a grave injustice to the word. Even more, when we consume quantities of sodium chloride, as a substitute for the real thing (unprocessed salt with all its natural constituents), we can do serious damage to our health. Hence, the very word "salt" has become associated with a host of diseases from high blood pressure to kidney problems.

The facts are quite simple. Our bodies should not be made to metabolize sodium chloride alone, consistently over many years, any more than we should live on highly refined foods, such as white flour, white sugar, etc. It is well known that processing and refining of foods destroys the vitality, the very life itself, of the food. Salt is no exception.

From long standing experience, using real, natural, unprocessed organic evaporated seawater can increase health. This excellent salt is hand harvested by careful farmers who "cultivate" their salt ponds, much like truck farmers cultivate their crops. The French government has gotten into the act, with their stamp of approval on this particular salt, for the careful manner in which it is "cultivated" and harvested, from shallow, clay lined ponds along the coast of Brittany of northern France. It is naturally air dried in the sun, and unrefined.

Historically, salt was valued highly. To be "worth your salt" implied strength, vitality and good work habits. To enjoy fullness of health, one nutrient your body needs is genuine salt, as opposed to the inexpensive table variety misnamed "salt" today. Sodium chloride is to salt, what perhaps nitrogen alone is to soil and plant growth, or what sucrose alone is to human health. These analogies only suggest an idea of the scope of potential health problems related to too much sodium chloride, which is what the public has been sold as "salt."

Now, taking all the above into careful consideration, with a large grain of salt, what is the average person to do? First, we can use a little common sense. Generally, economic gain has occupied a higher priority than health, at least in our modern society. Yes, our modern "salt," as a host of other things, has been degraded and devitalized for profit.

Salt companies learned a long time ago that the other 79 to 83 constituents of natural evaporated sea water (salt in the historic definition of the word) were quite valuable. These companies developed methods of processing salt and of separating out all those other constituents, which left behind a big pile of sodium chloride. Most sodium chloride used by the chemical industry. The rest is sold to the public as 'salt.'" sea salt organic salt Now since sodium chloride tastes somewhat like the real thing, it was only a matter marketing to reeducate and sell people on the "benefits" of using cheap sodium chloride, in place of natural, unrefined salt. Sodium chloride granules pour easily. They don't cake, even in rainy weather. As far back as the 1950's, some medical authorities were standing up and telling us that health is not related to what we eat? How dumb! They were wrong, and now we know it. But for economic gain those very disinformation campaigns took their toll on the health of our nation. Many kids who back then grew up on burgers and salty french fries are now aging adults who live on strict "low sodium" diets, because they have been told that "salt" is the culprit. No, salt, with all its natural constituents in the historic sense of that word, (meaning clean, evaporated, natural, sea water) is not at all a major health problem today. People on salt restricted diets need to be careful with any food item. We offer no medical advice to anyone. We only offer information which defends the efficacy of using genuine, unprocessed, unrefined, full spectrum, salt; versus devitalized, sodium chloride "salt."

Now a word of caution. I hear outcries already, "But there is no proof!" I answer, "Use a little common sense. Take your blinders off."

Modern "salt" is an "invention" of an industry whose motivation was profit. It is only logical that there are health consequences also. Now if those health consequences are negative, would an industry admit to selling products that are at best negative to the overall health of a nation, at worst "slow poison?"

These are potent questions for individuals to think about. I certainly cannot educate everybody. Nor do I claim to have all the answers. I can in my own small way sound the alarm, even raise a red flag and say, "Hey, look at this stuff. Should we be eating refined sodium chloride, even though we once thought it was healthy? What can we do now that we know better?"

The national consequences of ingesting sodium chloride as "salt" for the past few generations are only now becoming evident. Yet, it is never too late for individuals to change old bad habits. Even though genuine salt is expensive in today's market, you don't need very much of it; only about 5-10 pounds per person annually, according to some experts. That would be 20-40 pounds for a family of four, which should not break the family budget, especially if purchased in quantity and stored. Too much of anything is bad for you! But salt is a vitally essential ingredient in our diet. Our cells need salt to conduct the messages that reach the brain. The health issue is whether or not people consume more than they need to. Average consumption of salt is 5-10g per day, when the body only needs 3-4g. Most of this intake is from processed foods and is table salt, which contains additives and chemicals. I suggest people use sea salt in their cooking and on their plate and buy less processed food. This way your salt intake will be under your own control. The second issue regarding salt is whether or not it should have additives. The two common additives in commercial salt are magnesium carbonate and sodium hexacyanoferrate II. In my view, these are added by manufacturers to make the salt easier to process, as the body does not actually need them. In fact, although these chemicals make it less likely that the salt will become damp, they make it harder for the body to absorb the salt and use it effectively.

Current scientific research reveals that there are actually very few salt-related health problems. A healthy, active lifestyle demands a sufficient reasonable salt intake. The contention that our body can function on no salt at all or on a restricted ration of salt causes more problems than it is intended to solve! Sodium restricted diets kill. Life is closely dependent upon the presence of sodium. However, to clearly understand the role of sodium in blood, we must examine it in combination with water and various ions: chlorine, potassium, calcium, hydrogen, etc. That is why it is more important to study the co-activity of sodium with these other ions, rather than the sodium element alone. Sodium, in the form of sodium chloride, plays an important part in the primary processes of digestion and absorption. Salt activates the first enzyme in the mouth, salivary amylase. In the parietal cells of the stomach wall, sodium chloride is used to make hydrochloric acid, a secretion needed for digestion.

Magnesium scarcity is the cause of many diseases. Magnesium is one of the major components of living matter. Magnesium salts are needed to stimulate white blood cell activity. They also promote the action of vitamins, enhance the effect of numerous diastases such as the alkaline phosphatases, and play an important part in glucose metabolism and phosphocalcium metabolism. The mineral content of Sea Salt, though small, makes this salt an important part of a healthful diet. Sea Salt is not a mineral supplement. Although this salt contains a wide range of minerals and trace elements, they are in small amounts. I believe, as do many health practitioners and medical doctors across the country, that Sea Salt is an important part of a healthy diet. Lynne August, M.D. says that when isolated sodium chloride (i.e. common table salt) is used, it affects the body like a drug. Sea Salt, a whole salt, naturally contains a variety of minerals that each play a part in the way that the body effectively uses this salt. All of these minerals are important to the process of assimilation of food. I believe very strongly in the whole food concept. Whole foods, as they present themselves to us in nature, contain a variety of balanced nutrients. Even though some of these nutrients may be minuscule, each contributes to the nutritive power of that food. When whole foods are fractionated and processed, that nutritive power decreases beyond the loss of the actual, individual nutrients. In our opinion, Sea Salt salt contains a wide variety of minerals and trace elements and is a vitally important part of our diet. When common table salt is processed and fractionated, this loss of nutrients affects the way the body can make use of the remaining minerals, sodium and chloride.

A lack of magnesium can result from one or more of the following conditions: Deficiency in Magnesium: Consuming grains and vegetables grown on chemically fertilized or sprayed fields may result in a deficiency in magnesium. Junk foods: Consuming white bread and refined grain products. The magnesium and other vital minerals are removed with the bran when rice is polished or whole flour is sifted to remove its bran. Refining whole wheat and polishing rice can reduce their magnesium content by over 80%. Refined Salt Consumption: Using vacuum processed refined white table salt or boiled salt. These contain either no magnesium salts or less than 0.03%, instead of the 0.41% average content in natural Celtic Sea Salt. Magnesium salts, while quite abundant in young adults, become depleted in older persons. Factors affecting absorption of magnesium are: physiological need, the amount of magnesium ingested and the diet as a whole.

The best Sea Salt is harvested near the coast of Northwestern France. Ocean water, rich in a wide variety of minerals, is channeled into a series of clay-lined ponds. The wind and sun evaporate the ocean water, leaving a mineral-rich brine. This live mixture is briskly stimulated by the salt farmer, and dazzling salt crystals form. The Sea Salt is then gathered by hand using wooden tools. This harvesting method preserves the vital balance of the minerals found in Sea Salt. Common table salt lacks minerals and trace elements because it is purified and refined, leaving only sodium and chloride. After refining, common table salt is mixed with iodine, bleaching agents, and anti-caking agents to create a purely white, free-flowing product. Even many salts labeled “sea salt” are washed or boiled, which removes minerals and trace elements from the salt.

What is real sea salt?

Natural Celtic Sea Salt is the most basic condiment as well as a staple food. This sea sale is obtained from the vaporation of the ocean's water, simply and without artifice. No synthetic mineral supplement can equal the wealth of minerals that natural Celtic Sea Salt supplies, regardless of how rich its content or how precisely it is formulated. The is real sea salt!

Why is it hard to obtain; how do we recognize the real thing? Celtic Sea Salt is harvested in Brittany, near the Celtic Sea, in the northwest of France. Cold, active, north sea currents, large tides and other marine and climatic conditions, offer the advantage of a unique mix of minerals. It is this combination of minerals that gives Celtic Sea Salt its special qualities. Common salt lacks many trace minerals provided by Celtic Sea Salt because, during the refining process, these minerals are removed. The minerals are then sold to the chemical industry or to pharmaceutical companies to make dietary supplements. In order to make the color of the salt white, many other sea salt products are washed. In this process valuable trace minerals are also lost.

The geographical orientation of the coastline also plays an important part in the quality of naturally extracted Celtic Sea Salt. The ocean water is channeled into pristine ponds edged with natural waterways, wild grasses, and other green plants. The wind and the sun evaporate the ocean water, leaving a mineral-rich brine. The live flowing mixture is briskly stimulated by the salt farmers' actions, and within hours the dazzling crystals form and are gathered by hand.

The method used for gathering salt from natural flats is crucial to the production of this health-giving product. The salt fields of Brittany are lined with a natural layer of clay and sand. If concrete lined beds are used, as in refinery-type salt, the efflorescence of the cement pollutes and loads the salt with toxins. In order to ionize and harmonize the trace elements the hand-raking of the moist crystals is done by artisans with a skillful touch.

This method is followed by a dedicated group of professional Breton natural salt farmers, who perpetuate the traditional skills that have been passed down from antiquity. When harvested in these ways, natural Celtic Sea Salts are highly beneficial to one's health as they possess many therapeutic qualities.

Flower of the Ocean, an almost white Celtic Salt, is delicately gathered from the surface of the brine. The white color of this magnificent salt is due to the bleaching action of the sun. These delicate crystals can be crushed between the thumb and forefinger over food at the table to add a gourmet flavor to your meals. Light Gray Celtic Sea Salt is harvested in late summer. These are the largest of the Celtic Salt crystals and are best in soups or sauces. Fine ground Celtic Sea Salt is ground on granite stones from the Light Gray salt and is perfect for those who prefer the convenience of having salt in a shaker. Remember; since there are no chemicals added to Celtic Sea Salt, it may be necessary to add a few toasted grains of rice to the shaker to keep your Find Ground Salt flowing freely.

Basic Roles of Sea Salt

Our bodies contain three internal oceans that closely resemble the ionic balance of ocean water. Each one of these complex solutions surrounds and circulates throughout our bodies: Blood Plasma Lymphatic Fluid Extracellular Fluid

Comparative analysis shows that these fluids are very similar to sea water in their chemical composition. Medical and biological facts indicate that humans need salt in order to perform basic physiological functions. Ocean salt contains all of the previous minerals our bodies require. These minerals make salt a vital necessity. In the salty environment of amniotic fluid the human embryo grows over 3 billion times in weight. From the moment of conception on, humans are never without need for salt! Celtic Sea Salt is the Salt of Life!

In macrobiotic/natural diets, Celtic Sea Salt is considered to be a strong alkalinizer and to provide renewed energy. An acidic body condition is believed to contribute to many sicknesses and alkaline foods are considered powerful remedies for hemorrhaging, severe burns, physical trauma, acute infection, shock from an illness or surgical intervention, or very deep emotional stress. In conditions like these the body's need for extra potassium was traditionally met by administering small doses of an isotonic salt solution made from natural Light gray Celtic Sea Salt dissolved in water. Salt, the universal necessity, was appreciated as an effective medicine, used alone as an energizer, detoxifying agent, or in conjunction with healing plants. (Mythologia Aesopi, 1501)

Precious minerals working together: co-action

Proper electrolyte balance in the body is achieved by maintaining a relatively high potassium content inside the cell and a high sodium concentration in the fluid outside the cell (extracellular fluid). Though potassium and sodium are the two electrolytes found in greatest concentration in the human body, many other elements are required for normal physiological function. Trace elements, found in ocean water and in natural Celtic Sea Salt, work to maintain proper function of the body's systems. This unique combination of nutrients plays an important role in safeguarding good health. If any one element is left out or diminished, a link in an important chain will be missing and the whole organism will suffer. These elements work to regulate optimum body function by ensuring that our internal oceans are never shortchanged of trace nutrients.

But isn't salt bad for you?

Sodium Restricted Diets Scientific research reveals that there are actually very few salt-related health problems. A healthy, active lifestyle demands a sufficient reasonable salt intake. The contention that our body can function on no salt at all or on a restricted ration of salt causes more problems than it is intended to solve! Life is closely dependent upon the presence of sodium. However, to clearly understand the role of sodium in blood we must examine it in combination with water and various ions: rather than the sodium element alone. Most often salt related health problems are caused by diets consisting of high quantities of refined sodium compounds, combined with a sedentary lifestyle. Some harmful unbalanced sources of sodium include fast foods (especially French fries and milk-shake beverages), packages sauce mixes and cured meats.

High blood pressure and refined salt

The research of Dr. John H. Laragh, M.D. and Mark S. Pecker, M.D. at the Hypertension Center of the Cornel University Medical Center, shows that the High Blood Pressure problem lies not in salt intake but in an overactive hormone system. When this system is overactive, rennin levels are excessively high indicating a physiological need for salt. Salt starvation could occur if the patient is put on a low salt diet. On the other hand, low rennin levels, which occur only in a third of hypertensive people, actually reveal a sodium excess. Only patients in the latter group should lower their sodium intake.

Factors that influence blood pressure are heart rate, changes in blood volume and the contraction and dilation of blood vessels. A change in any one of these factors, providing the other two remain constant, will have a direct affect on blood pressure. Blood pressure regulation is achieved via the dilation and constriction of blood vessels (vasodilation, vasoconstriction) and the control of blood volume and heart rate. A healthy cardiovascular system may be maintained through regular aerobic exercise like: walking, jogging, bicycling, skiing, playing tennis or swimming.

Why stock up on good salt?

Celtic sea salts are naturally harvested by a cooperative of farmers in Brittany, France. The method used for gathering these nutritional salts follows a 2,000 year-old Celtic tradition and is supported by modern quality-control standards. The French government prides itself in this unique resource and has preserved thousands of acres of pristine wild marsh, as a "national Treasure" and "Protected Site" so that areas will continue to produce Celtic Sea Salt for centuries more. "Label Rouge", or "Red Label", is another merit that has been awarded to Celtic Sea Salts. In 1991, the French Ministry of Forests and Agriculture gave its most honorable "Superior Quality Food" mention to Celtic Sea Salt. I urge you to maintain a reserve stock of natural celtic sea salt at home for several reasons:

Natural salt is a prime condiment that stimulates salivation and helps to balance and replenish all of the body's electrolytes. It supplies more than 80 vital trace minerals to promote optimum biological function and cellular maintenance. Failure of salt crops due to bad weather, possible new regulations, shipper strikes and natural disasters may arbitrarily cut off our supply. Celtic Salt will keep almost indefinitely so I advise you to always keep a reserve supply.

I believe that informed decisions are the best decisions, and to this end I submit the above information for your evaluation and consideration. I believe you should take everything you hear and read, for sure, with a grain of salt. Genuine, organic salt, that is!

Himalayan Crystal Salt

Crystal salt from the Himalaya is considered the king’s salt. It is also known as the "white gold" or "salt of life". This is not surprising, since the word salt comes from sun (sol). Himalayan crystal salt contains eons of stored sunlight. Together with pure spring water it offers the complex mineral foundation for life to emerge, to be maintained and sustained.

It had millions of years to mature under great tectonic pressure, far from exposure to impurities. Primal energy from millions of years ago is stored in crystal salt's unique structure. All its inherent minerals and trace elements are available in colloidal form. This guarantees that the body is able to absorb necessary potassium, calcium, magnesium and trace elements.

Crystal salt from the Himalayan, together with pure water, is the purest, simple, yet most effective preventive health measure we can take. Plinius, a Roman writer (23-79 AD) already declared: Crystal salt is the most important remedy for mankind.

Our common cooking salt does not contain the vital elements that make crystal salt from the Himalayas so precious. Common cooking salt is basically an industrial waste product with only two of the original 84 elements remaining (sodium and chlorine) that is detrimental to our health. Sea salt is a much preferred alternative to refined processed salt. However, natural salt harvested at the shore is only fully viable as long as it is not industrially processed and is not supplemented with additives to make it pour more easily. Sea pollution, with its many harmful toxins, causes negative biophysical frequency to affect the finished product.

Production

Asia Import, our supplier, harvests its crystal salt from the deepest and purest level of a salt mine in the Himalayas. The purest, nearly transparent crystals, which look like uncut diamonds, come from a thin bottom layer of the mine, the location of which is a highly guarded secret. Salt rocks of 30 to 50 kg are manually cut out in the mine and tracked from this point on by an internationally accredited independent company.

Transported to the production facility in Delhi, they are once again tested both by the above-mentioned company and our chemical engineer. They are cleaned, sun dried and finally sorted by color. The darker stones are processed into bathing salt. The purest stones are cut by hand into pieces of between 20 and 60 grams each, washed in brine and sun dried.

While the bath salt production is done in India by Indian employees - none of whom are children - the pure salt is shipped to Germany, where it is again tested by the accredited laboratory that authorizes the well-deserved seal of excellence used on all products. Further processing takes place in the Bavarian countryside town of Raisting, Germany, the headquarters of Asia Import. Here, mill salt and cooking salt are produced by local down-to-earth people whose commitment to Asia Import knows no office hours. Their ingenuity, devotion and care is helping our company evolve in a very organic way.

Dark field microscope analysis

In a dark field microscope analysis test of 3 groups of people at Asia Import headquarters in December 2002 and January 2003, we were able to observe the effect of brine solution made with Himalayan crystal salt. The simple test entailed taking a drop of blood from a person and analyzing it, then feeding a teaspoon of brine solution with a glass of water to this person, and 30 minutes later, repeating the blood test.

Before brine ingestion

After brine ingestion

The "before" pictures clearly show clumped blood, the "after" pictures show a more fluid blood, with more space between the blood cells, a healthier blood. The truly amazing result was that people who had regularly taken brine solution and then stopped, had the same clumped blood as those test persons that had never taken brine solution regularly.

These results clearly indicate that taking the brine solution on a regular basis is the key to health maintenance. The explanation for this is quite simple: the smaller the rocks, the lower the inherent energy. Since our rocks have not come in contact with grinding machines, they carry the highest energy charge and those are used for making brine solution. The table and mill salt has to be ground in a machine, therefore they do not have the same kind of energetic quality as do the whole rocks. Brine solution (see applications of how to make it) can also be used for other things, like adding a few drops to your salad dressing or other food, brushing your teeth with it, or inhaling and gargling with. The brine is great for skin blemishes and insect bites too.

The Healing Power of Brine

Recognize every disease or illness as a friend who wants to show you that something needs to change in your life.

Preparation of Brine

Loosely fill a closable glass container (Mason jar) with several crystal salt stones. Add good spring water or structured water, completely filling the vessel.

After approximately 24 hours, look to see if the salt crystals have completely dissolved. If so, add a few more crystals. When the water can no longer dissolve any more salt, the salt crystals will sit at the bottom of the jar without dissolving. At this point the solution will have become saturated at 26%, ready to use the brine solution. The 26% concentration will remain stable.

The glass can be refilled again and again with water and salt, continuing this process.

Benefits of Drinking Brine

  • The brine supplies the body with the natural energy stored in the crystals and the body can hold this up to 24 hours.

  • Can harmonize the alkaline/acidity balance in the body and normalize blood pressure.

  • Can dissolve and eliminate sediments which lead to stones and various forms of rheumatism like arthritis and kidney and gall bladder stones.

  • Can lower the craving for addictive desires.

  • Can help with skin diseases by cleaning from inside out.

The mixture of water and crystal salt, brine that is sometimes called "sole" (so-lay), is the primordial soup of life, and the most flexible physical representation of pure solar and light energy. When water and crystal salt come together they create this new dimension. The word sole, which is derived from the Latin word "sol", which means sun. Sole (brine) is the liquid materialization of sunlight. Sole means fluid sunlight or fluid light energy. When water combines with salt the positive ions of the salt surround the negative ions of the water molecules and the negative ions of the salt surround the positive ions of the water molecules. The ions become hydrolyzed. In this process the geometrical structure of the salt and the water is changed and a totally new structure is formed. Water is no longer water and salt is not salt anymore.

The crystalline structure of the brine is so profound that its vibration pattern lasts over 24 hours in our bodies. With brine water, you can import the vibration pattern the body requires to heal. The quality of the salt is paramount for quality of the brine. Every morning take a teaspoon of brine with a glass of structured water on an empty stomach. The amount you take is not as important as the regularity. It's better to take it regularly than in large doses. From a bio-chemical viewpoint, within minutes, the whole stomach and intestines are being stimulated. And this again stimulates the digestion and metabolism. The overall availability of electrolytes is built up and thus the conductivity in the body is increased, which in turn affects the circulation. The salt allows the current to flow once again. All life started in this sea of water and salt, the primal sea. Every vital process in our universe, from the microcosms to the macrocosm are directly connected with the energy potential, which comes about when water and this salt combine.

Balance the Body's pH Factor and Get Rid of Heavy Metals

The brine is good for balancing the pH factor of your body. With brine water one can get rid of heavy metals such as lead, mercury, arsenic and calcium because the crystal salt is able to break up their molecular structures. A simple example can help you understand this concept. Put some 26% brine solution in your teapot that has hard water or calcium build up. Heat it briefly and watch how the calcium dissolves in the brine. This process is a simple chemical reaction. You can treat your body to a similar therapy in order to get rid of the calcium build up and the heavy metal deposits in your body. For the body to get rid of these deposits it has to first metabolize them. Even animal proteins, which are difficult to break down and eliminate, will be eliminated through the urine due to the strong structural formation of the crystal salt.

Production of Crystal Salt Brine (Sole [so-lay])

Fill a glass (not plastic or metal), preferably one that can be closed and opened easily such as a small mason jar, with crystal salt rocks and cover the rocks with pure spring water or filtered tap water. Structured water works very well, too. As the salt dissolves the water density will self-regulate to stop dissolving once the 26% saturation point has been reached. This concentration stays stable over time. Now you can use the brine. As the salt diminishes, you just add more salt rocks and top up with water.

Applications

Brine and Brine Drinking Cure:

  1. The easiest way to dissolve old sodium chloride poisons built up as crystalline deposits in your system is to take the brine drinking cure. In the morning, on an empty stomach, put a teaspoon of brine solution in a glass of pure water, and drink it. Wait 10 minutes before eating or drinking anything else.

  2. We recommend the use of brine for teeth brushing. It balances the pH in your mouth and works against gum bleeding, periodontal diseases, canker sores and bad breath. If used consistently, your teeth will become whiter again and tartar will dissolve. Using brine as a mouth wash has proved to be effective, as has gently brushing the tongue with the salt solution.

The Brine Bath:

A brine bath is recommended for skin diseases, rheumatism and joint diseases, after operations, for gynecological diseases and for children with a tendency to recurring infections, to strengthen the immune system and to detoxify the body.

To get the full benefit of a therapeutic natural salt bath, the right salt concentration is mandatory. The salt concentration has to be at least the same as the one of our body fluids (approximately 1%) to activate the osmotic exchange ratio. Since a full tub normally takes from 100 to 120 liters (27 – 32 gallons) of water, you need to use at least 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of natural salt. Experience has shown that half that is effective, too. To avoid having to use body energy to balance the temperature of the organism, the water temperature should be as close to 37° Celsius (97° Fahrenheit) as possible. The bath should be 20 to 30 minutes long. During this time, the body reaches the same salt concentration inside and outside as the one that can be compared to the pre-natal state.

From the brine bath the minerals penetrate the skin in form of ions. The stimulation will cause natural cell growth in the living cell layers. Bio-energetic weak points will be balanced and the body’s own energy flow will be activated.

The natural regulating mechanism of the body, the so called homeostasis, is initiated. The detoxifying effect after the brine bath can be compared to a 3-day fast. Since salt is also a disinfectant, several people can use the same water. Observations have shown that the applications of the therapeutic natural salt bath cure have the best effect at the changes of the moon (at full moon: optimal assimilation; at new moon: optimal detoxification.

Brine steam inhalation:

Used against chronic and specific illnesses of the upper and lower respiratory tracts (asthma, bronchitis, acute as well as chronic sinus and ear infections). Put a little salt (approximately 10%) directly in hot water and inhale the vapors for 10 to 15 minutes, keeping your head and the bowl covered. The respiratory tract needs about 30 minutes after inhalation to bind the deposits and poisons by producing mucus and secretions, which will usually cause a light cough. This application can be done daily depending on the individual's well being.

UPDATED NOVEMBER, 2008 - Here's another Sole preparation method:

Use a sealable glass container. Place several Original Himalayan Crystal Stones in it. (The stones should be covering about 1/4th of the glass jar.) Now pour high quality spring water (e.g. Mountain Valley Spring Water or Fiji Water) or artesian water into the jar until it is full. Place the lid on top of the jar and let the solution sit for 24 hours.

After 24 hours, take a look at the solution. There are two possibilities:

  1. All of the salt crystals are dissolved and you have no stones remaining at the bottom of the jar. In that case add a few more crystals and let the solution sit for another 24 hours, thus giving it time to saturate fully.
  2. There are salt crystals left at the bottom of the jar after the first 24 hours. This indicates that the solution is fully saturated at 26%, ready to use. (As a rule, there should always be salt crystals at the bottom of the jar. This is your visible indicator that the water is fully saturated with salt.)

The Sole is now ready for you to use. You will be using the upper two thirds of the solution in the jar internally. The pH-balance of the upper two thirds in the jar is more alkaline and thus more health-promoting and highly beneficial for internal use. Its taste should be mildly salty. Due to a different constellation of isotopes at the bottom of the jar, this part of the Sole tends to be more acidic. Therefore, the last third of the solution left in your jar, should be used externally, for a bath or a foot-bath. This part of the solution is very beneficial for your body, when absorbed by the skin.

If there are any crystal stones left over at this point, they can be used for preparing a new batch of Sole.

Every morning, take one teaspoon (equals 3 x wooden spoon) of the Sole and mix it into a glass of high quality spring or artesian water. The amount of water is up to you. That teaspoon of Sole is sufficient for your daily intake.

Take it on an empty stomach before having breakfast. Regularity is an important factor, so do make sure to remember taking your Sole daily.

From a biochemical viewpoint, the entire stomach as well as the intestines will be stimulated within minutes, thus encouraging digestion and metabolism. In case the cleansing effect turns out to be too intense for you, you can reduce the amount of Sole to a couple of drops rather than a teaspoon per day. This depends on your individual judgment and constitution.

Natural Healing vs. Symptoms Suppression

Understanding crystals helps us understand water and salt. Most crystals are found in mountains. When geo-tectonic changes occur, the pressure and cooling are responsible for the creation of crystals. If we apply enough pressure to carbon, we get a geometrically perfect diamond that contains specific energy/information.

In energy medicine a disease is referred to as a deficit of energy or flow (chi, ki, prana). Our bodies, when healthy, are energetically balanced. When ill, the body will create suffering, manifesting as disease. When confronted with disease, we are encouraged to change by our own body that is telling us that we have either too little, or too much, of something in our life.

Energy Deficit Causes Disease
We lack vibrational energy. We need to identify the vibration we are deficient in and bring our body back into balance by replenishing our body with the appropriate energy /information /vibration.

We are in a healthy state when we have sufficient life force (current, energy, information, vitality) in our cells. Consider your body as a rechargeable battery. Even if your body is functioning well you have to make sure that your batteries are charged, else your body will not have enough energy to repair itself. It will deteriorate, creating disease and lack of vitality. The disease signals the lack of specific energy in the form of a symptom. Let's not mistake the symptom for the cause of the disease.

Symptoms are the expression of an energetically imbalanced organism. The body signals a weakened organ through a symptom.

Suppressing Symptoms Does Not Heal

Deficit of vibrational energy allows chaos and disorder to take hold in our body. If we suppress a symptom without determining its cause, we are taking away out chance to balance it. Suppressing symptoms leads to more symptoms and a disease that is even more entrenched.

The oil pressure indicator in your car lets you know about a problem which could to lead to irreparable damage. If you were to treat this situation according to conventional medical understanding, by treating the symptoms, you would simply put a piece of chewing gum over the gauge to block the red light, and continue driving. How long will that last?

Instead we must identify the cause of the problem, and deal with it.

Healing Through Consciousness

Pure vibrational energy is formless and not visible to us. We have been conditioned to accept pharmaceutical pills as a solution, rather than working to find the cause of the source of energy deficit, manifesting as a disease. Taking conventional medicine will not only suppress the symptoms but will often lead to additional blockages of our energy flow. (Commonly Known as Harmful Side Effects about which we are cautioned.)

If we introduce the needed vibrational energy to our body, soon our self-regulating (homeostatic) mechanism will bring us to health. Our body always tries to return to its original, balanced state. This process is the "healing". It's not the doctor or therapist who heals us. Even with the approximately fifty-eight thousand medications available, we can find practically none that can heal our disease. The healing process can only come about from inside, because healing is primarily a process of consciousness. Through learning we receive the missing information, the energy, a specific range or pattern of electromagnetic vibrations. This can come to us as nourishment, or through subtle means, such as words, touch, music. The food or the therapy are only carriers of information, not the energy itself.

Disease and Energy

  • Disease = deficit of vibrational energy.

  • Symptoms = point of greatest imbalance.

  • Healing = resolving deficit of energy, and consciousness, not treating symptoms.
